When I was in my school, I was a kid interested in subjects like mathematics and science. This eventually reflected in my results, and I was a consistent name in the toppers list. I started solving complex mathematical questions with time, which helped me represent my school in various inter-school mathematics competitions. While pursuing my pre-university education, I ensured to excel in my academics to choose science as my major. I took my exam and score well, with a CET rank of 243 out of 1.39 lakh candidates. This test is considered to be one of the most competitive aptitude tests. Due to this performance, I got an opportunity to choose one of the best colleges in the XYZ state and choose computer science as my specialization.
XYZ’s excellent faculty and curriculum has pushed me forward and gave me an edge with the computer science fundamentals, and exposed me to upcoming technologies in the domain of computer science. Being good at academics in school, I also excelled in my academics in a college. To be specific, I scored an A grade in Data Structures and Algorithms and Programming Languages and averaging good grades in other courses. Throughout my undergraduate, I always pushed myself to participate in various projects to enhance my practical knowledge. In my third year of my bachelors, with the help of visual basic and SQL server, I worked and developed a software information management system. The primary work of this application was to list out all programs on the computer and enable users to perform tasks like renewing a license and uninstalling the program. This project amazed the faculty and the judges and was listed in the top 3 college projects. Apart from this, I also involved myself in developing a tool named Twitter Data Mining and Analytics. This tool used twitter’s API to fetch trending topics and then perform sentiment analysis with the collected data. These significant projects and assignments I were laid a strong foundation in different computer science domains that will help me excel in my masters.
When I reached my final year, I was fortunate enough to get placed in XYZ’s top product-based startup. The role I was placed for was a software engineer. In the early days of my placements, I was assigned to a dedicated team to developing ChatBots Application. This chatbot was responsible for a particular task which was scheduling meetings through Microsoft Outlook. The APIs we used for the implementation of the application was NLP and Outlook. Based on data analysis, the application was used to recommend meeting rooms and times; this was based on the user’s availability. Once the development was wrapped up, the application got received by XYZ and was used as a go-to application for scheduling meetings. This project was a kickstart to my career as a data scientist. This application was so successful that I got appreciation and recognition. Along with this, I was also assigned as a data scientist for our contract management software.
I have been working as a data scientist for the past two years in XYZ for our core product. Using machine learning and deep learning models, I am working on an auto extraction piece and sits on the core concept of Data Science. My association with XYZ has given me multiple opportunities to prove myself and my abilities as a data scientist. With pride, I can say I have proved myself every time.
My academic knowledge and work experience have allowed me to expand my knowledge spectrum as a data scientist. With my skills and knowledge, I am confident that masters in data science at XYZ university will help me get my expertise in the respective domain. Along with this, I will also be able to intensify my knowledge to achieve my goal. Through my masters in data science, I wish to develop more profound knowledge into the domain and unleash my fullest potential.
